I just adore this old photograph. i love the semi transparent yellow layer sitting above the photograph. The grain, what looks like some light reflecting through the middle, the shadows above. I love how this photograph has no expectations, it just is. Perhaps this is why it turned out so brilliant.

Jesper Ulvelius

My gosh. Jesper, to begin with, is a BRILLIANT name. Secondly, monochromatic lighting, the division between white space and texture, the lack of contrast, and desaturation all together make Ulvelius' photographs so captivating. I want to secretly live in his photographs, hidden, submersed, soaking up the surroundings.

Film 1

Today I taught morgan how to use a manual camera. Im unsure as to why he asked me to teach him. My memory of high school darkroom practice has almost been fully erased. Im also unfamiliar when it comes to posting photographs of myself, I am usually the one behind the camera. I've become quite fond of the floating umbrella photos, looking forward to playing around with those when back at uni.

Theres something about girls with guns....

Department of Eagles - 'No one does it like you', directed by Patrick Daughters and Marcel Dzama.

I'm not so keen on ghost faces, however I'm quite fond of the colour and choreography in this clip. Such a lovely contrast is evident, a specific atmosphere is set when the vibrants clash with the washed out sand. Costume design is brilliant. There is something about girls with guns, especially when the girls are wearing military skirts and high socks, lets not forget to mention the KK styled veils. Brilliant :)

...Just a kind warning, I have stocked up on hard film and stepped back to my manual camera. Please do excuse the faults in my work, I am only learning. Looking forward to experimenting in the darkroom when back at University. Scans up shortly.
